Crisis loan online application form

Applying for a Crisis loan is usually done over the telephone using your local SOCIAL FUND TELEPHONE NUMBER, however, depending on your particular crisis it may be appropriate to make a paper application.

A paper Crisis Loan application is usually used when there is no immediate risk to your health and safety, and you are able to wait up to two weeks for a decision.   The online crisis loan application is EXACTLY the same as the application that you will fill out over the phone with a Decision Maker, so it may well be worth reading through the application even if you are considering applying over the phone to make sure you are ready for any questions that are asked during the interview.

Hi tracy,

In your circumstances you will need to apply for an “alignment to benefit” this is a very quick application and is generally the easiest to be approved for.

Just call 0800 032 8366 and explain that you are still waiting for your claim to be processed, and the advisor will do the rest
:)

Social Fund January 26, 2011 at 8:41 am

Hi going to Africa will close your claims to benefit – therefore you will have no means to repay any social fund loan so you would be turned down.

Hi, I have applied for a crisis loan for rent in advance and been declined for it. I am due to move on 24th may but have nothing to pay the private landlord. It is a bit unfair as I state the reasons why I need to move and have some help but no-one seems to care. Is there any other way I can get help or should I re-apply again ??

Reply

Social Fund May 27, 2011 at 3:13 pm

NO dont re apply- go into your local jobcentre with a letter stating that you want a REVIEW of the decision, then another officer will apply the law to your case and see if the reason for turning you down was correct, if not you will be paid.

Were sorry to hear that you are suffering, however we are unable to offer emotional support- it may be worthwhile seeking advice from the citizens Advice centre to find out what help is available in your area with regard to support groups.

Financially we may be able to help. call the 0845 number and make an application for a crisis loan if you need help with living expenses.

I am asking because i rang for a crisis loan sometime in August and i got turned down for it. Is it too soon to be asking again?

“haa” is a difficult benefit to understand, as they change the rules relating to “haa” regularly, they sometimes don’t pay you at all, and covert your benefit situation into “ha ha!”

but honestly, yes you can apply for a crisis loan over the phone in this situation.

Helppp!! I took out a few crisis loans when I was receiving jsa! I’m now just in part time work so don’t need to claim any more! How do I contact you too pay back? Can I still pay in installements as I don’t have a very high income at the moment.. Also would I be allowed to apply for a crisis loan whilst working? What is the chances of getting one if I do?
Thanks for your help :)

hi Toni,

With regard to paying back, you can call debt management in your area ( number should be on you acceptance letter) and ask for a repayment plan.

As far as new loans go, YES you can apply but only if you have no other means of gaining income for living expenses (food, pre-pay fuel) just call in the usual way

Hi. I have found rented accomodation and need to pay the 1st months rent (300) and deposit (300) before moving in. I dont have the money though and was wondering if i would be eligible? My husband works part time (£150 every fortnight) but was off work for 6 weeks recently and our housing benefit has been suspended and we have fallen behind with our current rent. We are moving because our landlord wants to renevote and have work done on this house asap. I have a 2 year old son. Also, once we move i will need to partly furnish the house, would i get any help towards this? Thanks

Hi I need a new washer n fridge freezer. I moved into a private rent and purchased the ones that were here from my landlord for a small amout. This is because they were nearly broken neway and at the time I needed them as I had no others and I have 2 children, 5 and 2. Cheapest brand new I can find is from a catalogue, this will cost just under £500. My neighbour has said I can use her washer and 1 shelf of her freezer until I sort something out. Should I apply for a crisis loan or a budgeting loan? I have gas n electric taken out of my benefit already so I get a small amount fortnightly of £36. This is after repayments of other things aswell. Any helpful advise would b greatly appriciated.

hi, myself and my partner are both on jsa, me for 4 and half months my partner for 1, our current tenancy agreement is up on boxing day and our landlord is wanting us out then due to rent arrears. we have seen a house to rent privately. the landlord wants £100 to secure the property, which we could possibly stretch to, but then wants £420 bond and £420 as first months rent in advance before we can move in (£840 in total). we would need the money/keys before boxing day as i know job centre etc is closed over xmas period and i don’t fancy attempting to move houses over xmas and our current landlord wants us out by boxing day. would we be able to get any help with the rent in advance/bond??
any help most appreciated.

Social Fund December 6, 2011 at 7:30 am

Hiya,

You will need to raise the bond and deposit (£100) yourselfs, as all the social fund will help with is the rent in advance. Some councils help with bonds- so speak to your council and see if you can get this agreed in principal BEFORE applying for the rent in advance and you should be fine, as long as you don’t already have large social fund debt for other loans.

Reply

rebecca wright December 6, 2011 at 10:17 am

thankyou. is it the town hall i would need to goto to speak to the council or is there a phone number i can ring? i’ve only had one crisis loan in the past for £82 so this should be ok shouldn’t it? so the council may help with the bond and then i should be able to get a crisis loan for the rent in advance? brilliant, thankyou ever so much!!!

Hi Dawn…,

Unfortunately the phones are going to be VERY busy of the next few days- however you should be able to get Wayne a loan on the grounds that he needs an alignment to benefit, having said that- his claim *should * be fast tracked given that he has just been released – so it is also worth calling the JSA section and asking for an emergency payment.

Keep calling, and you should get help-

As soon as you speak to someone ask
1) their name
2) their location.

This will make them less likely to fob you off ( as they are then traceable)

Aslo say that you are applying for an ” alignment to benefits” this is usually an easy/ straightforward application to take/ deal with… good for stats..
